Traffic Data and Information. AfterWord uses a number of internal and third-party methods to recognize visitor data like IP addresses and browser settings (collectively 'Visitor Data'). AfterWord's internal servers and software automatically recognize Visitor Data. No Personally Identifiable Information (as defined below) is revealed in this process. The Site may also use Visitor Data to compile traffic data about the kind and types of visitors who use the Site at specific intervals (collectively 'Traffic Data').
We may use Traffic Data information to analyze our Site traffic, but such information is not examined for Personally Identifiable Information. We may also use Traffic Data to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our Site, or to display content according to your preferences. Traffic and transaction information may also be shared with business partners, affiliates, and/or advertisers on an aggregated and anonymous basis.
Personal Information. AfterWord provides each customer with the ability to share with their Trusted Friends and intended message recipients access to personal information (collectively 'Personally Identifiable Information') provided to AfterWord by the customer to access and use AfterWord's features and benefits. Personally Identifiable Information is captured only when a visitor signs in to the system and willingly discloses such information in the My Account section of the Site. Please note that information added by you to your Epilogue page can be set to be visible to search engines and you will have the option on AfterWord to turn this feature on or off.
Personally Identifiable Information includes, but is not limited to: (i) 'Contact Data' (such as your name, address, city, state, zip code, phone number, and email address) and (ii) 'Demographic Data' (such as your age, IP address and gender). This Personally Identifiable Information may be necessary in order for Trusted Friends to carry out requests made by you. We do not recommend that you enter information that is personal and confidential in nature, such as Social Security Number, passwords, bank account information, etc., and to do so only to the extent as required in order to provide your Trusted Friends and message recipients with the information required to carry out your requests.
Use of Personal Information. AfterWord, sometimes with third party assistance, may use your Personally Identifiable Information to verify your identity and process your order and payment through merchant account services, such as Paypal, and to analyze our customer demographics to better serve you. Your Contact Data may be used to follow up with you on transactions initiated on the Site, respond to inquiries made through the Site, inform you of changes to the Site, and send you additional information about AfterWord and its products. Unless specifically authorized by you, we do not provide Personally Identifiable Information to third parties, except as necessary to provide you with services. We may be required to disclose information to third parties if we receive a subpoena or to otherwise comply with the law.
Please note that Contact Data and Traffic Data are used to gather general statistics about our customers and visitors, respectively, to enhance the consumer experience on the Site. We may also use Demographic Data in a way that does not identify you specifically or allow you to be contacted but that provides collective information about our users. For example, we may inform third parties about the number of registered users, number of unique visitors, and the pages most frequently browsed.
User Access to and Ability to Update Personally Identifiable Information. You may visit your personal account profile at any time by clicking on the "My Account" link. Through your Personal Profile, you may review and update your Contact Data. If at any time you want to remove your Personally Identifiable Information from our Site, you may do so by deleting some or all information that has been entered by you. You will also be warned that once information is deleted it is deleted forever. We will not retain any data or information entered by you on our Site once it has been deleted by you.
Our Commitment to Data Security. We strive to make certain that our servers and connections incorporate the latest encryption and security devices. To prevent unauthorized access, we have implemented physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.
Lost or Stolen Data. AfterWord has security measures in place to prevent the loss, misuse, destruction, and alteration of the information you provide us. We will have no liability to you or to any third party if any such loss, misuse, destruction, or alteration occurs.
